The Martha Stewarts of Doha

After Mirella and I went on our cake course we decided to set ourselves baking challenges, once in a while, from the Wilton website. We discussed this the last couple of months and managed to get it together today. Our challenge was to whip up a delicious red velvet cake with cream cheese icing. It was fun to have someone to bake with but a little distracting with all the chit chat going on. With the odd oops and forgetfulness we managed to create a yummy red chocolate cake with an equally yummy icing. Jo (aka cake tester) joined us and managed to secure a slice before dashing off on the shool run. Fun was had by all. I am looking forward to our next bake date already.

A visit to Life Flight

Saturdays are a compulsory non-cook days for the mommy, so we decided to go and get KFC. On route Brendon checked if the medical helicopter was still on the helipad at the hospital and it was. So we made a quick dash to KFC then onto the hospital. Note the airconditioner unit attached to the helicopter. Owen loved looking Life Flight and was very happy that it was green and that the lights on the helipad were green too. Green happens to be his favourite colour, for the moment.
The sun was really bright so we had to put our hands up. Also the crash rescue equipment box was an interesting topic of conversation.

The Beach

On one of the weekend days we get up normal time which is around 5am, have breakfast, pack our beach gear into the car and head to The Pearl for a dip in the sea. The buildings around this area are still under construction so it is fairly quiet at this time of the morning. Owen watches the planes fly overhead, enjoys digging in the sand and spotting the fish in the clear water. Erin loves the water and floats on her tummy. She runs in and out of the water and keeps us on our toes. We try to stay sand-free on the way back to the car but this is hard for the littlies to do. Owen stops to pick up stones and investigates the walk-way. If we are lucky we make it home in time for Erins nap but sometimes she is exhausted after the couple of hours and has a nap in the car.
