Our first Christmas in Qatar will be one to remember. Brendon got a call to say that our shipment from The Netherlands had arrived and would be delivered on Christmas morning. What joy at the thought of our household goods arriving. On Christmas morning we opened our presents and then Brendon set off at 7am to meet the delivery at the villa. He was given strict instructions to report back to me on the condition of our goods. I was filled with joy and anxiety at the same time. Happy to see our things again but anxious as I was afraid they would arrive in 1000 pieces like our first relocation experience. I had already started packing up the apartment in anticipation of our move to the villa
During the day Owen, Erin and I went to the play area, ate, slept and waited for the telephone calls. Brendon reported back that all was going well and that there was minimal damage. He arrived home in the time to have a Christmas dinner of Pizza with Owen and I! We then all bundled into the car and spent Christmas night in our own beds in the villa.

The Hire Car
Before we decided on what car to purchase we hired a car for 1 month while we shopped around. Brendon made a deal with Self Drive Rentals and QR 4250 later we had a navy blue Nissan Xterra 4.0. It was a very nice car to drive and had a monster engine that rivaled the power of a rocket. It was great in the roundabouts and getting ahead of the masses. Erin spent many a day having a sleep in her car seat in it when she was still on 3 naps a day.

Our villa
Le Majestic Gardens will be our permanent residence here in Doha. It is located in the Al Waab area. 10 mins from the city, 10 mins from Owens nursery and 10 mins from the Villagio Mall. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a huge landing, a store room on the 1st floor and open plan living space downstairs. The railings are very ornate and the kitchen a complete eye-sore. It is a well maintained compound with a great pool, club house and gym. At the moment the villa is being repainted and repaired and we are very excited to have our own space again.

Hello Doha
We have finally arrived. After 2 months of in-transit living with Douglas and Lynese we will finally have a permanent home again. Initially we stayed at the Medical City Apartments which have been converted from the Athletes Village for the Asian Games close to the Corniche (promanade next to the bay). A huge 4bedroom, 4 bathroom place. Owen enjoyed running up and down the passage with Erin trying to keep up on her hands and knees. The location was very central and close to Brendons work. He often popped home from work for lunch at 12.30. The washing machine was impressive and could be set to start at whatever time we programmed it to and it played a melody when the cycle was complete. I have noted to have one like this in our next home. The complex has 2 play areas for children to play which kept Owen and Erin entertained. Owen loves Brendons Toyota Prado that has flashing lights and sirens but is nicely understated.
